Frequently asked questions

Reiki is a universal life force energy. It meets everyone where they are, and only seeks to help you along your individual life path. A session where Reiki energy is called upon and transferred to the recipient is considered one of the gentlest practices of the healing arts.

An experienced practitioner, Beth provides a safe environment with the highest ethics so that you are provided with an experience that is of the highest good and healing for you.

While most of us wish to heal and move on to something better, Beth will not rush you towards healing and improvement. A session begins with discussion around where you in your unique needs and where you wish to progress towards.

Mantras and intentions can be incredibly helpful to help us overcome our own mental talk that no longer serves our goals, dreams, and wishes.

Himalayan and crystal singing bowls can also be used during the session to help reset your neurologic systems.

Many people turn to videos in order to learn more. One of my peers, Lisa Biagetti, created a wonderful video titled What is Reiki? | A Short Film.

Big thanks to Lisa and for allowing sharing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thMT8W6qAwg

Each client and practitioner are unique, and each Reiki session can have its own theme or tone.

Reiki practitioners offer Reiki through hands-on (or hands-off) placements on the client’s body. Other elements such as crystals, sound therapy, feathers, intuitive guidance, and manifesting could be included.

If after a Reiki session you feel that you did not like it, then perhaps you did not resonate with that practitioner or the elements they used. If you felt very hesitant about the session and/or practitioner, then you may not have been open enough to the energy coming through and did not receive it. For some, they are more apprehensive or perhaps felt pressured by a friend who really thought that they would like it.

Always trust your instinct, and do not do the session if you are not open to receiving energy work from the practitioner.  If they are the right person to help you, there would be even a small spark of curiosity and even appreciation after learning about them. Ask questions and check out their online material so you can get a sense of who they are, and what their sessions are like. Ensure that they have received the necessary training and are authentic in their vocation. Request a complimentary phone call to discuss their offerings, and how sessions are conducted. Any practitioner that does not offer this option may have intentions that differ from yours and you will want to know that before you move ahead with a Reiki session appointment.

Holding space for someone is one of the most important and honorable things that I can do for someone. It is imperative that you feel safe at all times and the session is clearly explained. For trust to be built, there needs to be a clear understanding of what will happen and how to communicate any potential discomfort. Always speak up for yourself. Energy healing works extremely well when both parties appreciate each other and conduct themselves with the highest ethical standards.

A session can stir up emotions, energy, and even memories that can be difficult and even uncomfortable to feel. If you are new to Reiki healing, schedule the session on a day where you have some flexibility in your schedule and perhaps when you do not have other engagements planned. Usually, you feel great after a session, but you could be tired later in the day. What a great way to slow down and be present for yourself. It’s not always possible to slow down, and the energy healing will still be beneficial.

If your session did stir up tough emotions and even trauma, and you do not feel better within 1-2 days, reach out to your practitioner, and have a live conversation. You could benefit from more healing sessions with them, a different practitioner, or perhaps even starting therapy. It is not unusual for someone to uncover truths about themselves through a Reiki session.

At times, a Reiki practitioner may intuitively notice something during the session that could be very helpful to you. Therapy, plus Reiki sessions can be so incredibly healing for those who have past trauma to release.

On a personal note, some of my own biggest healing breakthroughs have been complete surprises and at times not pleasant. But I always knew I was safe; felt I was getting what I needed and trusted connections with my practitioners.

You are human, with your mistakes and traumatic experiences. Our American culture is one ow speed and accumulation. We have not effectively learned slowly down, clearing, and healing. This is the secret to all healing, and rejuvenation. How you successfully move on and move into real growth, change and our own life’s path is up to you. Making time for yourself and the care you need will go a long way. With a Reiki session you can reset your energy centers, and clear away the debris that no longer serves you on your life’s path.

Absolutely! Just about anyone can learn Reiki and benefit from a regular practice of Reiki self-healing. You do not need any equipment. Just a curiosity to learn, as you practice the traditional hand placements as taught by Usui.

As with many energy systems, Reiki is intelligent, universal life force energy that is available to everyone. I believe that it is best learned, understood and is more available to you when you study with an experienced teacher.

The Level 1 course introduces energy healing, the science behind it and how to begin a session and holding the flow of energy. The practice involves dropping connection with the mind, the ego-self. Then entering an altered alpha brainwave state, simply allowing energy to flow to wherever it is needed, for the highest good.

You’ll learn the five tenets of Reiki, which are the guiding principles, such as do no harm. This means that a Reiki practitioner is not the one doing the healing. They are a conduit for the healing energy to move through them without any attachments to an outcome such as diagnosing, healing, or correcting an issue. Students learn how and when to stop the flow of energy and when to not provide healing, if it is in the best interest.

If you would like to learn Reiki from me, please use the contact form, or email me at BethR4848@gmail.com. Classes are held with a minimum of three students and a maximum of ten. Upcoming dates will be added to my calendar for Level 1 through Level 3a/b (Master Teacher).

Reiki is traditionally taught as three different courses: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 split into two sections (3a and 3b). You can opt to complete only level 1, or continue on and do level 2 and/or 3.

Beth teaches the traditional Usui system of Reiki and provides you with a book to support learning and understanding of this sacred system of healing. In addition to receiving a guidebook, she provides simple one page “cheat sheets” and guided meditation material.

For each level, you receive a sacred attunement from Beth and a certificate after successfully completing the course. Those completing Level 3 a/b Reiki Master and Reiki Master Teacher, receive a list of their Reiki lineage which traces back to Dr. Mikao Usui.

Each course can be completed in 1-2 days, depending upon the availability to the studio space and the group's needs.

The basics of Reiki can be learned in a weekend course. However, practice is the most important aspect. I advise people to take the course when time can be set aside each day to practice Reiki on yourself. This is a vital step during the first month after your Reiki attunement and course completion. The information is potent in your being, and you will gain confidence in the practice.

Life events sometimes mean that your initial practice time-frame is longer than a month. Or gets pushed out to a different month. You'll never lose your sacred attunement. With practice and time spent refreshing yourself, you can pick up Reiki again when you have time. You can also opt to take the course again with the same or a different teacher.

Reiki Level 1 introduces you to what Reiki is and how it works. You'll learn how to access and tune into the energy, while putting your hands in the traditional hand positions. After a month of practice on yourself, you can start practicing on your friends, loved ones, and pets.

Reiki Level 2 increases the energetic flow of Reiki and teaches how to give a distance (or virtual) Reiki healing session. Reiki level 3 is also called Reiki Master. In this course, you once again increase the flow of Reiki while learning advanced studies information.

Reiki Level 3 course is created in two sections. Reiki Master (level 3a), and Reiki Master Teacher (level 3b). You receive the same attunement, but if you know that you will not be teaching Reiki and passing on sacred attunements, you can opt to do Level 3a only.

It is said that humans have the capacity to be empathic. For some, empathy is more accessible, and they note this leads to a deeper form of personal intuition. Therefore, empathy and intuition can be practiced, and deepened through intentional thoughts and by doing for others.

Many Reiki practitioners of all levels of study and lineage have their own individual gifts. Such as intuitive sensitivities like clairvoyancy, clairaudient, clairsentience, and so on. Some may be mediums or even psychics. This is not a prerequisite to study Reiki.

These gifts, when practiced and honed, can be helpful tools that can be used to more clearly disseminate energetic fields and information that are present during a session. A person can simply be a clear channel and offer Reiki energy in its highest good, while not tuning for messages, images, or other intuitive expressions.

If you already have intuitive and even psychic gifts that are not yet developed, it is possible that your unique gifts will become more apparent to you. You can then seek out learning, and even a teacher to assist you in those areas. Reiki has been known to help heal core wounds in ourselves which can make these gifts unenjoyable, and even sometimes unwanted. However, you are in the driver’s seat and determine your path forward.

Yes, you absolutely can just take a Level 1 Reiki course and receive a lot from that experience. When you attend a Reiki level 1 training, you receive a sacred attunement and the knowledge for connecting to universal life force energy.

Once you are attuned to Reiki, you can then give Reiki to yourself, loved ones, friends, and even your pets. The Level 1 course is perfect for busy individuals, those with chronic ailments, or even someone who wishes to help a friend or loved one that is going through a tough time. As long as the recipient accepts the healing, Reiki can be given. If you try to give Reiki to someone without their consent, it will simply not work. You will learn the Reiki tenants and how to hold the intention for the highest good for all and to do no harm.

Some parents learn Reiki so they can give their child Reiki. Babies, children, and teens can benefit greatly as Reiki helps strengthen their immune systems, elevates their mood, and assists with overall mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

Some people have learned Reiki so they could offer frequent Reiki to a loved one going through cancer treatments or even when they are approaching the end of life.

Medical professionals such as nurses, and hospice care workers have learned Reiki and found it to be a wonderful offering for their patients, in addition the allopathic care they provide.

Reiki is just for people and pets. You can use Reiki for your houseplants, garden, home, vehicles, electronics and even situations.

There have been students that I have taught, who shared stories of connection and healing, before they even thought of taking a level one course. Were they already connecting to Reiki? I think it’s quite possible they were. Some have even connected simply through reading and self-study.

Forty years ago, it would not have been possible to learn without a direct connection to a teacher. As with many energy healing systems, it was thought to only be available through handed down information. At one point, to learn Reiki you needed to either be in a monastery or offered to be taught. You couldn’t simply request the knowledge.

In the 1980s, real change occurred and thanks to several people, learning Reiki became less exclusive, and more accessible. For a long time, Reiki was available to only those with means to learn, and a Reiki Master certification fee was upwards of $10,000.

People have changed, and the energy of our world has changed. Some of our most highly regarded Reiki teachers are tossing out the strict rules. Has this been a big, positive step towards human consciousness healing, and perhaps even karmic cleansing? I think perhaps yes.

Beginning in 2015, Beth began to study Reiki in person with certified Reiki Master Teacher, Laura Jany Klucharich in Emmaus, PA.

In January of 2016, while being mentored by Laura, Beth earned Reiki Master Teacher certification.

During May 2017, Beth completed advanced studies. Reiki Wisdom and the 3 Mysteries with Mitch Nur Ph.D. (What is considered to be the oldest form of Reiki, the Long Life teachings.)

Beth continues to learn and expand her connection with Reiki through a daily Reiki healing practice, and mentorship with Ricarda O'Conner. A life-long learner, she enjoys continued studies in the areas of consciousness, the zero-point field, meditation and shamanism, and indigenous teachings.

She is an avid reader and podcast listener with a deep and abiding connection to the natural and spiritual worlds.

I believe in the oneness, the universal language of love, and that we can express our individuality through differing spiritual practices. As an ordained minister, and energy practitioner I hold sacred space for you before and on your special day. Whether performing a marriage ceremony, a blessing, or end of life support. I am fully committed to being of service assisting those along their path of life, learning and happiness.

After our initial meeting, we first determine a plan of action, based on your wishes and individual beliefs. Even if you have limited or no belief in a higher consciousness, I can help guide you while we craft a ceremony that is right for you, or a loved one.

As a Reiki Master practitioner and teacher, I have worked with many, many energies and recognize the expansiveness in all beliefs. Including those who identify as atheists.

I believe in the power of connection to the natural world. For thousands of years, all indigenous cultures performed the ceremonies and rituals outside amongst the subtle energy from our home, our Earth. Perhaps an outdoor ceremony would be appropriate for your celebration?

By setting aside a specific day and time to celebrate a special time of life, you create a sacred space. A remembrance that can be a balm to your soul. What a blessing life is!
